You could do worse than stumbling into Envy Barbers after a night out. Feeling worse for wear and tear, I was instantly attracted by the mix of traditional and modern design.
In terms of design, I felt like my face needed to be rearranged and put back together as well. This process began when head barber, Sheldon, worked his magic with a series of hot towels, cold towels, face massage, creams, lotions and potions.
An Oasis in the City
A scraggly beard had been miraculously trimmed and edged to perfection; clean lines, the perfect length, soft skin. I felt completely rejuvenated. I felt like I had had the equivalent a couple of hours of desperately needed sleep.
Moving on to my hair, it didn’t need much as I had a hair cut a few weeks earlier, but again, a few snips and I was a new man. Perhaps unsurprisingly, in a few expert moves, Sheldon instinctively knew exactly what do to.
It’s easy to forget that truly expert grooming requires weekly barbershop visits.
The cherry on top was Sheldon turning me on to a styling cream I had never used before. Holding my hair in his hands Sheldon said, “gel”? I confirmed that I had always used gel to slick my hair straight back. Sheldon looked at me kindly with disapproval.
Top Grooming Products
Sheldon stepped away and came back with a tube of Vaughn’s V76 styling cream. “You’ll find cream is much better than gel,” said Sheldon.
Having tried a lot of hair products over the years, Vaughn’s is easily the best ever with a woody herbal fragrance that stands out on its own. I plan to buy a bottle of the cologne (which is the same fragrance) when it’s back in stock next month. ML
