New in Bali: The Capella Ubud

The Capella Ubud Bali is a Luxury Hotel

If a “camp” with tents sounds like roughing it, Capella’s about-to-launch property in Bali will banish any such thoughts. The Capella Ubud Bali is pure luxury.

The designer, Bill Bensley, has an extensive resume inclusive of the Four Seasons Golden Triangle Tented Camp in Thailand; he brings his romantic colonial style to the Capella Ubud in the upland rice-growing region of Bali.

Luxury Tents in the Highlands

Opening soon, the 22 tents and a two-bedroom lodge come with plunge pools on a jungle property where even the gym, library and restaurants are tented. Activities range from guided walks to chocolate-bar making.

Nestled between Ubud’s rainforest, rice paddy fields and the sacred Wos River, the Capella Ubud has been inspired by the early European settlers from the 1800s.

Indoor & Outdoor Bathrooms

Each tent as well as the two-bedroom lodge are crafted with individual, inspirational themes.  Each retreat also includes a private salt water Jacuzzi pool, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, a spacious lounge and bedroom with two outdoor decks.

The culinary tent features two restaurants while The Camp Fire is a gathering place to meet local storytellers over pulled hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows at night.

World Class Spa & Gym

The Auriga Spa offers a wide range of wellness and spiritual treatments.  The gym is called the Armory and features top branded kit for intensive workouts.

Capella says they were sensitive to Ubud’s densely forested terrain and not one tree was cut during construction. Safe to say, this is a proper hideaway for a weary traveller looking to recharge.
