International Travel Update
THE IVY OPENS IN RICHMOND, LONDON
Because a perfect dozen Ivy cafes and brasseries isn’t enough for London’s A-List foodies, the upmarket chain is opening in Richmond, just a brioche toss from The Thames.
Featuring Ivy classics such as tuna carpaccio and chicken Milanese, The Ivy Cafe Richmond will – as per The Ivy way – hold half the tables for walk-ins, though good luck getting a table if Richmond-resident Mick Jagger is in the queue.
posh NEW KOWLOON HOTEL, HONG KONG
Victoria Harbour unveils its new-look skyline with the opening of the Kerry Hotel – the first new-build hotel on the Kowloon waterfront in more than 20 years.
Early buzz has focused on the 1,000+ artworks and gardens, but we’re all about the spectacular 16-story views (more than half the rooms overlook the water), with the panorama from the 8 x 80m curved lobby window worth the airfare alone.
Opens April 28
Côte d’azur SPORTS BREAk
Take one high-end hotelier, add an unashamedly exclusive adventure-provider, and what you’ve got is this new series of one-off sports breaks. In Antibes, Hotel du Cape Eden Roc’s tennis-and-wine-tasting camp with Olympic silver-medallist and self-confessed wine-nut, Michael Llodra looks a cracker.

BOUTIQUE B&B REFURB, ITALY
One of Puglia’s swishest boutique hotels reopens after a stunning facelift.
Right in the sunbleached heart of San Cassiano village, Don Totu Dimora Storica is an achingly elegant 18th century palazzo, now with a pool house (with Art Deco chandeliers, natch) and rooftop outdoor cinema, as well as cook school, yoga classes and Piaggio 125 Vespas that guests can use for free for sightseeing Dolce Vita-style.

FIVE-STAR ALL-INCLUSIVE, MEXICan Riviera
Nothing new about all-inclusive on the Riviera Maya, but UNICO 20°87° is – clue’s in the title – unique. For one thing it’s stunning, an adults-only, art-filled, finca-style resort on a bone white beach five miles north of Akumal.
For another, when it says “all-inclusive”, it means “all-inclusive”, with unlimited food, drink, spa treatments, golf, day trips – and, note it, night owls, 24-hour room-service.
Chic NEW SAFARI CAMP, ZIMBABWE
Robin Pope, the big bwana of Zambian safari and a byword for small, super-stylish tented lodges with top-notch guides, has set up camp in Zimbabwe.
Comprising just five Tarzan-chic tents with open-air, en-suite bathrooms, John’s Camp is perched right on the banks of the Zambezi in Mana Pools National Park, the only safari camp in the world offering walking safaris among big game – and yes, that means elephants and lions. Bring spare khakis.
